Race Day Recap

Congratulations to all Masterminds in New York City who conquered the 2014 Great Urban Race! All participants started their adventure at Heartland Brewery and then went on to discover the hidden clues in their city. Masterminds completed a variety of unique activities that required quick thinking, problem-solving, and physical tenacity!

Throughout the day our participants went to Bruno’s Bakery where teams put their baking skills to the test by filling cannoli’s and Twins Pub where Masterminds had to successfully bounce five pencils into a pint glass. Also, who could forget Ricky’s where one team member was handcuffed and had to paint the nails of their partner?

We’d like to give big high-fives to our first, second, and third place teams who all receive a free entry to the 2014 Great Urban Race Championship in Vancouver on August 9 where they’ll have the chance to compete for $10,000 in cash prizes. In first place, we had Servin’ Shade finishing in 1:56! The one Fault Wonders finished in second with a time of 1:59 and Mo Bros grabbed the third place spot at 2:02.

Thanks to all of the teams who dressed up and brought some added spirit to the day. A special shout out goes to We Are the Gay Guys That Beat You for winning the costume contest! We would also like to thank our St. Jude volunteers, all of our clue locations, and of course all of our amazing Masterminds! The GUR Crew had such an enjoyable time and we hope to see you again later this year in Vancouver.
