Race Day Recap

Congratulations to all participants in Toronto who made the 2013 Great Urban Race such an awesome success! We had over 800 Masterminds at the event and the cooperative weather made for a great day of adventure. All participants started the race at Fionn MacCool’s and went on to explore the streets of Toronto. Masterminds completed a variety of unique activities that required patience, brains and physical strength!

Some of our favorite clues at this event included B Suite Salon and Spa where participants had to paint their teammate’s toenails and Osteria dei Ganzi where teams put their Italian to the test. We were also very impressed by everyone’s athletic abilities at Dynamic Conditioning Centre where participants completed the plate push challenge!

A special thanks to everyone who donated to the SickKicks Foundation, your efforts are truly appreciated! We’d also like to thank all of the SickKid volunteers. We’d like to give you all a big high-five for supporting such an amazing cause!

We would also like to extend a special congratulations to our first, second and third place teams who all receive a free entry to the 2013 Championship Race in Puerto Rico and the chance to compete for $10,000 in cash prizes! In first place, Roccolino came dashing through the finish line with a time of 3:07! The Shanias weren’t far behind, crossing the finish line at 3:16! Finishing close behind were the Cablasians, grabbing third place with a time of 3:32! Congratulations to our Top Three Teams!

The costumes in Toronto did not disappoint. After an intense clap-off between several awesome costumes, it was team Chubert that won the crowd over! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day!

Thank you again to our SickKid volunteers and all of our clue locations and of course, all of our phenomenal participants. This was our first Great Urban Race in Toronto since 2010 and the GUR Crew had an incredible time. We look forward to seeing you again next year, thanks Toronto!
