Race Day Recap
Congratulations to all participants in Madison who came out for another awesome Great Urban Race! We had almost 400 Masterminds at the event and the cooperative weather made for an awesome day of adventure. All participants started the day off at Coliseum Bar and Grill and went on to explore the hidden gems of Madison! Masterminds completed a variety of unique activities that required quick thinking, problem solving, and physical tenacity!
Throughout the day our participants were blindfolded while doing figure eights in a kayak on Lake Wingra! Our Masterminds also completed the slowest race challenge at Madison B-Cycle and who could forget the naked mole rats at Nutzy Mutz and Crazy Catz?
Congratulations go out to our first, second, and third place teams who all receive a free entry to the 2013 Championship Race in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the chance to compete for $10,000 in cash prizes! In first place, we had Engaged In Nonsense finishing in 2:11! Bay Creek Penguins finished second with a time of 2:15 and The A Team grabbed the third place spot at 2:19!
Well-deserved rounds of applause were given to some great costumes at Great Urban Race Madison, but it was Mario Bros and Mushroom Kingdom…Respectable Ladies who won the crowd over. Thanks to all the teams who brought some added spirit to the day!
Thanks to our St. Jude volunteers, all of our clue locations and of course all of our amazing participants. The GUR crew had a great time and we look forward to seeing you again, Madison!
