Race Day Recap
Congratulations to all participants who made Great Urban Race Boston 2013 an awesome success! We had almost 500 Masterminds at the event and the cooperative weather made for a great day of adventure. All participants started the race at The North Star and went on to explore the streets of Boston. Masterminds completed a variety of unique activities that required patience, brains, and physical strength!
Some of our favorite clues at this event included the OakHeart challenge sponsored by Bacardi and your beautiful ‘Sweet Caroline’ renditions. And how could we forget, the burpee, ball slam, bear crawl sequence at Redline Fight Sports? Also, we were very impressed by everyone’s ability to fit into a shopping cart! You’re looking good with those tats, Boston.
A special thanks to everyone who donated to Room to Grow, your efforts are truly appreciated! We’d also like to thank all of the St. Jude volunteers! A big high-five goes out to all of you for supporting such an amazing cause.
We would also like to extend a special congratulations to our first, second and third place teams who all receive a free entry to the 2013 Championship Race in Puerto Rico and the chance to compete for $10,000 in prizes! In first place, Vignette MJ came dashing through the finish line with a time of 1:51! Dikembe wasn’t too far behind, crossing the finish line at 1:58! Finishing right next to them was Los Jefes, grabbing third place with a time of 2:07! Congratulations to our very speedy, and extremely close, top three teams!
We were happy to discover that Bostonites know how to tell a good joke! Also, the costumes in Boston did not disappoint. After an intense clap-off between some awesome costumes, it was the Mighty Massholes that won the crowd over! Thanks to everyone who dressed in costume and added to the spirit of the day!
Thank you again to our St. Jude volunteers and all of our clue locations and of course, all of our phenomenal participants. The GUR Crew had an incredible time and we look forward to seeing you again next year, thanks Boston!
